Well the last two or three weeks have been up and down while cleaning friends cars (or rather working around the weather to get chance too).

Of late it’s just been maintaining cars with a wash here and there and repeatedly Quick Detailing the VW Eos across the road (picture taken from a previous occasion).

Kinja'd!!!

But then a guy I know (used to be a friend but never kept in touch) kept asking me to give his car interior a going over so when he finally remembered to bring it down I was in for a shock. It was awful. I think he let the dog do what ever it wanted and may of even let the dog live in it by the look of it.

The car in question is a 2002 Ford Focus Mk1. (Low Point).

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Ye’, that’ll help.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Well after four vacuums attempts to get as much up as possible I attacked it with a wet’dry vacuum and A LOT of VP Enzyme Odour Eater odour and bacteria cleaner and destroyer.

Coming on. Two thirds of the rear bench seat done.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

All done. Six and a half hours well spent. All surfaces were treated with an anti-bacteria cleaner and then dressed with an anti-bacterial dressing.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Now onto something much nicer.

The car a 2009 VW Golf 2.9TDi Sport. (High Point).

Not much to do. Full wash and seal.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I Love a good snow foam.

Four hours of washing, vacuuming, dressing and sealing later (for some reason, maybe too bright, the rich red at some points look a chalky pink).

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

So here we have two extremes. One has a car and doesn’t do anything but use it as a method of getting from A to B while the other appreciates her car and likes to keep on top of it.

You do insane work! I wish I had that kind of patience.

So, on average, what would a full detail like you did on that Ford run?

Thanks man.

It wasn’t a full detail as I only did the interior but for that I guess some would charge anything from £100 to £200 for a deep interior clean. But I don’t charge so he bought me a 20 pack of Guinness. Which is always nice. It was six and a half hours non stop (bar a pint of Guinness half way through while I tried to cool down, get some fresh air and think of what to do next and how to get it done).

I regurgitated from seeing that much hair in a car. I respect you fully.

Thanks.

The hair was so thick in places I had to tease it apart for the vacuum nozzle to take it in.

There was easily a kilo of dog hair in the vehicle. The first three hours I had a throbbing headache from the smell of the interior.

Headache due to bad smell.

I am getting dizzy just reading this.

You deserve a prize.

Well I got 20x440ml cans of Guinness (and a Guinness glass) for doing it.

You just got to keep going but it has highlighted that I need to invest in some goggles and breathing masks.

If you’re going to beat the hell out of your interior, do what my wife did: get leather seats.

You’re an impressive detailer.

Thanks man.

It’s just using the right tools for the job, not giving up and keeping an open mind on the task at hand on how to tackle it and plan for and be ready for any deviations.

I don’t mind leather seats but many people are wary about spending the extra to have them and when they do they treat them just as bad as fabric seats or worse. Nobody looks after things.

Nice I respect this. My buddy did the same thing for my girlfriends interior, but it was leather; and she had vomit all over it from drinking cheap wine. Story short I bought him a 6 pack.

Cheers.

I’ve developed a fondness for anti-bacterial and enzyme destroying cleaners. They really come into there own for pets, small children and spillages from food products to human matter.
